Panorama Panic Botany

2014 • 7'29

The video loop shows an associative chain of images of botanical motifs, some of which are strongly abstracted and observed through the filters of various optical media. Microscope images, digital photos, close-ups of tube screens, etc. overlap like collages. The depicted objects are as if weightless in a virtual black space that frees them from their original context. Immersed in artificial green, new fleeting formations of technoid vegetables constantly emerge, creating a visual pull. The properties of the materials are transferred or detached from their physical consistency. In addition to intermediality, intermateriality emerges. The semantically open images refuse a rationally informative approach. Rather, they create a purely sensual structure and open up an untouched mental field of experimentation.
